GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

1. NO EXHIBIT WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR JUDGING UNLESS LISTED IN THE PREMIUM LIST!

2. All entries must have been made or grown by the exhibitor since August 1st, 2009.

3. To exhibit in 4-H, you must be enrolled as a Worcester County 4-H member no later than June 30, 2009. Anyone other than Worcester County 4-H members may exhibit in the Open Division.

4. For the purpose of age categories within 4-H Divisions, a Junior will be any youth age 8 as of January 1, 2010 through age 10, Intermediates are those age 11 as of January 1, 2010 through age 13, and Seniors will be age 14 as of January 1, 2010 and older. Open division entries will be judged in two age groups: Open Youth - ages 8 to 18, Open Adult - ages 19 and over. All youth age 7 and under as of January 1, 2010 will exhibit as a "Youngster". Youngsters are not permitted to compete and will receive participation awards for their efforts.

5. RULES GOVERNING EACH DEPARTMENT WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. Questions concerning interpretation of rules will be brought before the Worcester County Fair Board for a ruling.

6. Only ONE exhibit by an exhibitor may be entered in each class, except livestock, rabbits and poultry.

7. All 4-H exhibits will be judged on their own merit - "Danish System." Open exhibits will be judged on competitive basis (1st, 2nd, 3rd) in each class.

8. Premium Awards, provided by the Maryland State Fair Board, will be based on ribbon placing received. PREMIUMS WILL NOT BE AWARDED TO UNWORTHY ENTRIES EVEN WITHOUT COMPETITION.

9. There will be a grand champion award of a ROSETTE and $5.00 premium for the outstanding 4-H exhibit in each division. Best of Show and Open Exhibits in each division will only receive a rosette.

10. ALL JUDGES DECSIONS WILL BE FINAL.

11. Exhibits (excluding rabbits, poultry, and livestock) will be received at the Fair in Byrd Park from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, August 11th (Entries will only be accepted during these times). Exhibits must be removed from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 15th. ANY EXHIBIT REMOVED BEFORE THIS DESIGNATED TIME WILL FORFEIT ALL PREMIUM MONIES.

12. All livestock exhibits (including rabbits & poultry) will be accepted at the Fair in Byrd Park from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 12th.

13. Registration forms for all indoor exhibits (excluding all animals) are due by Friday, July 30th, 2010. YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER. NO EXCEPTIONS! Faxed registration forms are not permitted.

14. Registration forms for all animal exhibits (livestock, rabbits and poultry) are due by Friday, July 30th, 2010. YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER. NO EXCEPTIONS! Faxed registrations forms are not permitted.

15. No pre-registration required for special events & activities. Registration for all special events will take place 30 minutes prior to the start of the activity.

16. Every effort will be made to protect all entries while on display at the Fair. However, the Worcester County 4-H/FFA Fair, Inc. disclaims any responsibility for loss or damage to property or persons.

17. Classes appearing in the Worcester County Fair Catalog may not be eligible for State Fair entry. See State Fair Premium Book for classes.
